We are so excited to announce that the Satellites are entering a whole new era!

Florin Matei, a world class National Coach, International Judge and former Romanian Junior Olympian, is moving to Canada from his home in Haifa, Israel. Even better, he is moving to Owen Sound to assume the role of Head Coach and General Manager with our gymnastics Club!

Florin flew all the way from Tel Aviv to visit us at Thanksgiving, where he spent a couple of days at the gym, and touring the community. Those of us who had the pleasure to meet him found that he is a warm, caring, dedicated individual who loves the sport and better yet, is an expert at coaching kids of all ages and abilities. Florin is intent on the psychological and spiritual growth of children on top of the physical component of gymnastics, and is currently working toward a Masters degree in behavioural sciences.

Born in Romania, Florin started gymnastics very young and progressed to become a member of the Romanian Junior Olympic team. He is now teaching school part time and is currently coaching and operating a gymnastics Club in Israel.

Florin wanted a Club with a positive culture, a respected history and place in the community . He found the Satellites to have a comfortable, supportive, and focused atmosphere in a well equipped and well structured Club. He recognized the talented coaches that we have on staff and is eager to work with all of our gymnasts. Florin also wanted a community where he could raise his family, and he felt that Owen Sound was a good place to do that.

We found that not only exptremely qualified, Florin shares the philosophies of the Satellites and his kind disposition and encouraging methods are exactly what we look for in a coach.

This is unprecedented in this community and we are so excited with this opportunity - for the current and the future gymnasts at the Club!

Gymnastics is our specialty, the Satellites have been fostering the physical, mental, spiritual and social development of children and youth for over 34 years. We have programs for girls, boys, teens, adults, cheerleading, dance and for those with special needs. There have been 1000's of Satellites over the years and you can be one too! Whatever the age or skill level, we have something for you to experience the rewards of being a member of the Satellites family!

We continue to grow as more and more young people join the Club to enjoy our programs. We have the largest competitive team in history this year and are very proud to have them represent Owen Sound at Provincial Competitions. Last year our first male Provincial Level competitor won the Provicial Cup and this year he'll try to defend his title of Provinicial Champion!

We are getting ready for a brand new session and have been working very hard to implement some new things that will serve our members better.
